I have a Derby Wife. She is my dear friend Emily a.k.a Em JeKill.
Ain't she sweet?
Emily and I met about 5 years ago. I had met my friend Billy's brother at his Birthday party, he was a nice guy so the next time we had a party we invited him over, and he brought his girlfriend. We chatted a bit through the night, I don't think either of us gave the meeting much thought. Then at around 4am, as several of us girls were half asleep on the couch getting up and asking the men in the basement if they could please leave, and me asking my husband to shut it down cause people were tired, we kept getting told 1 more song, 1 more song.
Then Emily got up from her chair, went to the basement door and yelled "Dennis! We are leaving, get your ass up here NOW!"
That was it. I was sold.

Emily and I began going for the occasional coffee/gossip session and over time became better and better friends. After I had my son she was the only friend I had that stuck with me after the fact instead of listening to petty gossip and lies. And she had every chance to walk away with the rest of them, but she's knows me and knows who I really am, and stayed with me because she is a real friend.
She has been there for me pretty much since the day we met, she is the only friend who has been in my sons life on any consistent level since he was born.
We joined Derby together, and are learning together, and she is an amazing skater. She's fast, tough, and graceful all at once. This girl was meant for this sport, I ask her to teach me stuff, because I want to skate more like her.

When I joined Derby I never expected to like the girls on my team so much. They say upfront "No Catty BS." and they stick by it.
This brings me to my sister wives.

Don't look at me like that! Only half bottles are ours.
That was taken at Alise T'Kill's Birthday party, and honestly the bottles were actually all there before I arrived. Remember me mentioning the cops getting called, and us getting blamed. Yeah, the bottles were there before all of us got there and at this point allot had been cleaned up, just saying, maybe not the derby girls, maybe bunch of other drunk people!
So we have from left to right. Fire Crack'Ya, Alise T'Kill, I'd Hit That, and Cherry Dread.
For those of you who are unaware, I am Cherry Dread.
And we can't forget
<--Smokey 5-0
You may be wondering how Sister Wives came to pass. Well, we were at a bar.
Yup, all you need to know right there.
Yup, all you need to know right there.
But seriously. I'd Hit That and Fire Crack'Ya were Derby Wives.
I'd Hit That had to work night shifts for awhile and couldn't make it to practice, in that time Fire Crack'Ya and Smokey 5-0 became good friends, almost like Derby Wives themselves. They were discussing a way to include everyone as Fire Crack'Ya loved her Derby Wife, but felt Smokey 5-0 was also as close. This made me laugh, because if Em JeKill and I weren't already Derby Wives, and Fire Crack'Ya and I'd hit That weren't already Derby Wives, I would have asked I'd Hit That to be mine, cause she's pretty awesome and shares my sense of humor.
So it came to pass since we couldn't bare to part with our current wives, but felt so close to all the others that we became Sister Wives. What can I say, we're greedy.
Even though the original agreement was made by Smokey 5-0, Fire Crack'Ya, I'd Hit That and myself, it has come to include Alise T'Kill, Em JeKill of course! and Kitty Von Doom.
Dii Mented and Vigilante Banshee are Derby wives, however we still consider them to be part of our Sister Wives cult. And I'm sure there are many more to come as we grow and bond with each other.

So to my Sister Wives, thanks for making my life a little more fun!
And to I'd Hit That, sorry I smacked you in the bum last night while you were jumping and made you fall over.
Awwww!!! *sniff sniff* I love my derby wife! And yes, it's all true, even the "get your ass up here we're leaving" bit. (What? It worked, didn't it?!!) I'm also very protective of my friends, so fair warning, if you're not nice, you'll find yourself in my peripheral vision, and that may not be the best place to be.
